Horus Heresy Blood Angels v Imperial Fists May 2024!

My buddy Joe came up once again to have a glorious game of Horus Heresy. Blood Angels against my Imperial Fists making their debut in anger!

Deployed my Las Cannon team with a good arc of fire!

A 15 man blog of Mk3 tactical Marines would try and harass Joe from that objective hopefully the Apothecary would help keep them alive!

Joe's beautifully painted blood Angels wins the initiative and takes first turn. I prepair to take some brutal incoming.

I was awake at 4am the morning of the game still working on the Phalanx Warders inside that Land Raider Proteus!


It was pretty rewarding after all that work to see the army on the table!

Boom the Proteus is disintegrated, and half that Warder squad I was painting at 4 am was slain in the wreckage meaning they never saw the table!! New model syndrome in full effect!

One of Joe's Predators is popped! Happy to see that threat taken care of, although I love the paint work he's done on them. Definitely one of the prettiest battles I've ever had! Both armies did look stunning imo! (Even though mine wasn't finished yet!!!)

By the end of the game, very little was left alive in typical Heresy fashion. The result was a hard fought draw which to be honest out of a game we enjoyed equally, was probably the correct result! 

We then got some nice shots of our armies.

The Thunderhawk gunship ! An image I took of the latest Thunderhawk model on one of my many Warhammer World visits! I've wanted to cover the Thunderhawk in depth for a very long time, and now I have a very good excuse so please bare with me. The Thunderhawk gunship is used by the Adeptus Astartes as their primary means of deploying forces for ground combat as well as their primary source of air support. The Thunderhawk gunship is often considered the lynchpin of any Space Marine Chapter, as it is able to fulfill many combat roles. Imperial Fists- Horus Heresy!

Here is my new army for 2023, Imperial Fists, originally my first choice for 30k, as I'd collected Crimson Fists since 1987, and had a sizable Black Templars army in 4th edition 40k, it made sense to go back 10,000 years and visit the Imperial Fists legion that spawned both those iconic chapters! My Legio Victorum Titans dictated otherwise however with the Dark Angels and Night Lords getting chosen for some narrative Thramas Crusade lore reasons and to tie the collections together. I was also worried that painting an army yellow without an air brush would be a total nightmare. I wanted to document my Imperial Fists journey here! I started off with a Leviathan Dreadnought I'd originally bought for my Crimson Fists from Forge World back in 2018, it was built and primed but never painted and sat in my cabinet for 5 long years!
