Acastus Knight Porphyrion AKA: Murder Turtle

Acastus-class armour is perhaps the most heavily-armed and armoured of all Knight suits in the Imperium, rare beyond belief amongst even the greatest Knight Households. Equipped with ranged armaments of incredible magnitude, these mighty engines serve as both battlefield supremacy weapons and icons of the Machine God's divinity – the Knight Porphyrion, in particular, often serves as the supreme enforcer of a House's dominion, passing judgement on fellow Knights over issues of honour. The Porphyrion's magna lascannons scour the battlefield with great blasts of devastating light, sufficient in power to threaten even one of the Collegia Titanica.
For my 50th Birthday, my beautiful other half treated me to a model I've wanted for a very long time, and one I didn't think I'd ever get.

The inconspicuous red Forge World box appeared in front of my Guitars. Inside it was the biggest Imperial Knight Forge World has produced.

Wash day for the Murder Turtle, parts counted and checked. The kits flawless. Into the bubble bath it goes.

I ordered a base from March Of War, its designed for a Warhound Titan but there's not much in it for size difference.

The railing was intact but I figured wouldn't be with a smashtastic stompy knight around!

Next to the WIP Reaver Titan, showing the scale of this knight!

I tacked the armour panels on to see what the finished knight looks like
The waist is pinned to rotate and make the top half removable for transport.

I love it already and can't wait to get paint down on this model as we go into 2027!

First layer of fresh primer!

Kept most of it in subassemblies so I can access all the parts
His green shoes are the first clues to House Jotungard. Inspired by Coltau Painting! I first came across this scheme back in 2018 when I was starting to get into Knights whilst recovering from my first spinal surgery. Had no idea that I'd get to pay homage to them all these years later. It's a scheme that really resonated with me.
Made a big start on the Murder Turtle
Didn't want to over complicate the twin linked magna lascannons as most of it is hidden by armour in the end but I love Easter eggs and hidden details.

Ambitious masking!!
Most of the basecoating done

Massively getting there now, with brown filter washes calming everything down.
